The UTP 65 D was developed to meet the highest demands on repair and build-up welds. Highly crack-resistant when joining steels that are difficult to weld, such as manganese steel, tool steel, spring steel, high-speed steel and black and white welds. Thanks to its good corrosion resistance, tensile strength and abrasion resistance, it can be used for a wide range of repair and maintenance applications for machine and transmission parts, e.g. gears, cams, shafts and axles, hot cuts, hot deburring plates and dies. Also ideal as an elastic buffer layer under hard alloys. The UTP 65 D has excellent welding properties, a stable arc and spatter-free, finely scaled seam appearance, and very good slag removal, partly self-lifting. UTP 65 D is easy to weld in constrained positions. Stainless, hot and cold hardening.
Welding instructions:
Thoroughly clean the welding area. Prepare V or X seam on thick-walled workpieces with an opening angle of 60 - 80°. Preheat higher-carbon steels and solid workpieces to approx. 250°C. Guide the rod electrode vertically and weld with a short arc in a straight line or with slightly oscillation, depending on the application. Rod electrode re-drying 2 h at 120 - 200°C.
